Full-time Football Academy Launched
The project will offer exciting opportunities to talented young players aged 16-18
Larne High School is delighted to offer the first full time football academy in Northern Ireland. Students will train as full time athletes in addition to being signed with local NIFL and NIBFA clubs.
The initiative, in association with Larne FC and RedStrike International Football Academy, offers exciting opportunities to talented young players aged 16-18. They will be trained by UEFA qualified coaches while studying for the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Studies at Larne High School.
Larne first team manager Tiernan Lynch believes the exciting new project will prove a massive hit with young footballers. "We are delighted that this exciting initiative has been launched,' he said.
"From a community point of view this gives young people in the area a fantastic opportunity to continue their education to a high standard and be part of a football club which is moving forward.
"We want Larne Football Club to be at the heart of the community and this is a big part of it. On the football side of things this is great news for both the young students and ourselves. It's a foundation for the full-time football environment that we're implementing at club, from the under-20's right through to the first team. These young players will be working day-to-day on all aspects of their game with UEFA qualified coaches and we hope it will give them a clear pathway to first team football."
