Open Evening 2020

With results improving for the third consecutive year, the school is now in an exciting stage of its development. Our Sixth Form continues to expand and we have a waiting in list for places in several year groups. The school offers quality education to children of all abilities and we are delighted with the level of interest shown in the school.

Larne High School has just enjoyed a highly successful Open Night. Pupils and staff were delighted to welcome visitors from the local community and further afield including Carrickfergus, Whitehead, Islandmagee, Ballyclare and the Antrim Coast and Glens. Interest in the school, which is now oversubscribed in most year groups, is growing rapidly and the departments were keen to display the work that they do on a daily basis.

From a murder mystery to solve in the English Department to Formula One racing in the Technology Department, there was something on show for everyone to enjoy. Principal, Dr Stephen Reid, spoke to parents about the range of educational provision that has been developed in the school. He explained that the school offers an innovative nurture programme at KS3&4 for pupils who require additional support while at the same time offering all the traditional GCSE subjects such as History, Geography, English Literature and Technology.

The school is investing heavily in new technology with Clever Touch screens installed in around half of the classrooms, and a plan to make more mobile devices available to pupils is currently being developed by the Governors.
