A message from Dr Reid regarding the last week of term
Dear Parent/Guardian,
You will be aware that the Education minister remains insistent that schools will be open for face to face teaching until the beginning of the planned Christmas break. We have asked publically and privately for some consideration to be given to families and school staff in the run up to Christmas, but there has been no response.
I am extremely concerned that, if I have to call parents from Tuesday on to explain that their child is a contact of a positive case of COVID-19, those young people will have to isolate over the Christmas period. I am also aware that many families share my concerns. As things stand, Larne High School remains open as normal. However, should you decide that your child needs to shield in the coming days please respond to Truancy Call with the word “Shielding” and we will update the school register accordingly. I will understand entirely why some families may need to make this call.
I have also just been informed that the only catering provision in school on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 December will be sandwiches for pupils who receive Free School Meals. All other pupils coming to school will need to bring a packed lunch. I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.
I would like to thank you all for your continuing support through these most challenging times.
With best wishes
Stephen Reid
Principal
