Holocaust Memorial Day - 27th January 2021

‘Be the light in the darkness’

Each year, Holocaust Memorial Day helps us to remember the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust. The date of 27th January was chosen, because it marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. The History Department would like to run a competition during this week (25th-29th January) to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. Along with the competition details below, we have included a number of links to useful learning resources. We know that your teachers will be giving you some catch up time this week and so if you’re all caught up with your work, perhaps you could use the time to enter our competition or find out more about Holocaust Memorial Day? Our focus is going to be a young girl named Anne Frank.

Competition Details:

Write a poem, design a poster, construct a factsheet, make a power-point presentation, complete a case-study or write a story about the Holocaust. Send your entry to your History teacher via Satchel One before 3:30pm on Friday 29th January 2021. Your History teacher will create an optional assignment on Satchel One and you should submit your entries using this. The winner(s) will receive a copy of Anne Frank’s Diary and some treats.
