Joffre White Author Visit

We were pleased to welcome author Joffre White back into school to talk to our Key Stage pupils about the importance of reading. Year 8 and Year 9 pupils received a motivational talk on the ‘Power of Words’.

Joffre spoke to the pupils about how their own aspirations can be achieved and that whatever path they wish to follow, a book will play a part in that journey. Pupils also learned that knowledge is power and how to use the power of words to follow their dreams. Pupils saw what can be achieved through reading a book or a poem, and from finding ‘their’ book.

Two groups, one from Year 9 and one from Year 10, received a creative writing workshop. The workshops were structured to inspire students to write the story that they want to. Pupils followed a process that opened their imaginations and allow them to create and write original stories.

Five pupils, Imogen Downie, Summer Jenney, Grace Reid, Scarlett McAllen and Abbie Greer, received a signed book for having the most words read in Accelerated Reader.

Well done and congratulations to all those who took part!
