A message from Dr Reid re Reopening for Year 8 - 11
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that pupils in Years 8-11 have been away from school for almost four months and I am really pleased that from Monday we can open the doors again and allow everyone to return to school. I would also like to acknowledge the work and dedication of the Larne High School staff over the past months as they have worked to allow education in some form to continue for everyone.
The arrangements for the school day will be exactly the same as they were in the autumn term. School will begin at 9.00 a.m. for pupils in years 8-10 and they will go home at 2.30 p.m. Pupils in Year 11 will begin at 9.30 a.m. and will go home at 3.00 p.m. Pupils must observe all the usual COVID-19 regulations, including hand hygiene, observing the one-way system and remaining in their bubbles where appropriate. On days when pupils have PE they should come to school in a school tracksuit.
It is now a requirement for all pupils to wear a face covering both in class and around the inside of the building. Some pupils, for medical reasons, may be exempt from wearing a mask. Pupils who have a genuine reason for being unable to wear a face covering should bring a note to school on Monday 12 April stating the medical reason. They will be issued with a discreet lapel pin so that no one challenges them over the issue. It is essential that pupils co-operate with the guidance on face coverings so that we can keep everyone as safe as possible.
If you have queries about the arrangements, please contact the school office by telephone in the first instance. Parents should not come in person to the school without first having made an arrangement through the office by telephone.
With best wishes
Dr S. Reid
Principal
